Energy Efficiency within Industries
Land based industry is responsible for 36 % of the total energy consumption in Norway. The Inland industry uses more renewable energy than the Norwegian average, but there is a large potential especially within energy efficiency and reuse of waste heat.
The Inland Norway Energy Agency will primarily target the largest industry clusters in the region: The aluminium industry, the wood industry, the energy industry and the food industry. This will be done in close cooperation with the regional office of the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) and relevant regional industry associations.
Goals
The goals within the industry sector are to:
- Increase the use of other energy sources than electricity and fossil energy for production purposes and heating
- Contribute to energy efficiency measures in all strands of production
- Increase the reuse of waste heat from industry production
Means
The goals will be achieved through:
- Training sessions and seminars for the main industries within RES and RUE, state of the art technology, and national and international financing schemes
- Training sessions and information regarding energy efficiency in buildings and transportations
- Offering advisory services to the target groups on RES and RUE issues, national and international financing schemes, and best practice
- Written information materials and brochures
