Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy in Buildings

40 % of the energy consumption in Norway is related to buildings.About 40 % of the total energy consumption in Norway is related to buildings. Most of this is electricity and fossil energy. It is therefore important to focus on energy efficiency and increased use of other renewable energy sources in buildings.

The Inland Norway Energy Agency will target private and public building owners and managers, architects and real estate developers, and installation companies within the building sector.

Goals

The goals within the building sector are to:

  • Increase the competence within energy efficiency and installation of RES and RUE systems
  • Awareness raising and competence building on the new energy labeling system
  • Increase the amount of energy saving measures and installation of renewable energy systems
  • Contribute to extensive reduction in use of electricity and fossil energy

Means

The goals will be achieved through:

  • Training sessions about energy efficiency and energy labelling, renewable energy systems, financing and schemes, installations, state of the art technology, best practice
  • Establishing a network for private and public building managers and other relevant actors
  • Offering advisory services to the target groups on energy savings measures, renewable energy in systems, national and international financing schemes, and best practice
  • Promoting the concepts of low energy houses, passive houses and plus houses
  • Establishing demonstration sites for private and public buildings
  • Written information materials and brochures
  • Extensive, practical and useful information on the Agency's web page
