Inland Norway Energy Agency
The Inland Norway Energy Agency is a regional knowledge centre for energy efficiency and renewable energy. The Agency supports the transition to more sustainable energy systems.

9 Sept 2011: Gjøvik/Hamar: Energy Conference in Inland Norway
Representatives from four European energy agencies gathered last week at Gjøvik and Hamar in Norway, to discuss their common challenges in the field of sustainable energy use. Read more.
About the Agency
The Agency spread management practices, provide guidance, and offer a range of services based on specific local needs. The Agency serves municipalities, public and private businesses and households.
Inland Norway Energy Agency (Energiråd Innlandet) is the first of its kind in Norway, and was officially opened 28 August 2009 by the State Secretary Sigrid Hjørnegård.
The Agency was established by the regional county administrations of Hedmark and Oppland and the regional energy company Eidsiva Energi, with support of the EU programme Intelligent Energy Europe (IEE).
The aim of the Agency is to contribute to reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by raising the awareness and knowledge about sustainable use of energy. The vision of the Agency is Inland Norway carbon neutral before 2030, which is in line with the national Norwegian climate goals. Another important goal is to assist the implementation of the goals of the EU Green Package before 2020.
The Agency is a non-profit and independent company.
Main objectives
The main objectives for the Agency is:
- Provide highly qualified, independent and up to date information and advices about rational use of energy (RUE) and development of renewable energy sources (RES)
- Stimulate the use of relevant state-of-the-art technology and best practise in the Inland Region and other parts of Norway
- Dissemination and public awareness activities among individual households, local business and public authorities
Services and target groups
The Inland Norway Agency offers information and advisory services about energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy to public and private businesses and households. The main sectors are:
- Buildings
- Transportation
- Children and youth
- Household
- Municipalities and county councils
- Industry
- Entrepreneurs and SMEs
- Agriculture and forestry
During the first period the Agency's priorities will be within the areas of energy use of buildings and transportation, and awareness raising among children and youth.
